What other breakfast food is there beside eggs, pancakes, biscuits, waffles, toast, fruits, milk, and cereal?
cytokine storm asked:
bacon, ham, sausages, omelets, cheese grits, one eyed sailor, we all know the typical and the cliched, but when it comes to a healthy and yummy breakfast, what else is there to eat first thing in the morning?
and don’t say anything can be eaten as breakfast, i highly doubt french fries and left over pizza make a terribly healthy first fare of the day for the digestive system.
adding to the cliched list: yogurt, granola, potatoes, bagels, smoothies, oj, coffee, tea, soymilk, salads, crepes of any sort.
412enV – lol, you might be right, i’m sounding picky asking this. but i think the main reason for this is i realize i am only eating these food daily to live, not to enjoy. i didn’t know what cereal, bagels and waffles were until i was 13, and didn’t know what the word granola meant until i was 23. i didn’t grow up eating western traditional breakfast food, so maybe that’s why i’m questioning it and wondering what else is out there. i should prolly just wise up and deal. i’m not starving to death and i should be thankful for that. btw, i do also enjoy indian food. thanks for the egyptian recipe, looks wunnerful

I sometimes make a quick blend of yoghurt, muesli and a banana (or mango) to make a quick breakfast smoothie. Some nutritionists say one meal per day should be in liquid form to help our bowel systems out.
There’s also porridge with added grated apple, cinnamon and sultanas (raisins).
This one is weird but delicious. Toast one side of bread under the grill, flip and add sliced banana and sprinkled brown sugar, then toast under the grill. Seriously, it’s yum.
French toast
Your list is pretty comprehensive though.
wow thats a lot of breakky! lol umm..i was going to say yoghurt, fruit and some toasted muesli (yum!) but u already have that. umm…in asia that sometimes have light brothy soups…?
lol good luck im sure u can pick something out of that vast list of breakfast items.
French toaste are my husband’s favorite.
Some people actually really like a hardy breakfast and like a big steak. I know that sounds weird but it’s true. Some people love a big chuckeye for breakfast, sounds to heavy to me, but breakfast is really an association meal. It’s more ok to eat foods you associate with breakfast, whereas for lunch or dinner people will eat “breakfast foods.”
Granola works too.
Oh and P.S. Apprently, Pizza is best eaten in the morning and is actually AN EXCELLENT breakfast because it’s got all of your fats and carbs and is burnt off by the end of the day instead of sitting in your stomach all night long.
Banana cake, cheez and tomato grilled sandwich.. french toast all with coffee…
Quaker Carmel Rice Cake spread with Nutella and topped with either fresh raspberries or bananas.
With your favor latte!
Note: Nutella can make an ugly man fine. Its so good all you do is spread it on any one of his 2000 body parts. One fine man coming up…literally.
Seriously…it’s that good.
There is a school of thought that holds the idea that breakfast should be the heartiest meal of the day so you efficiently burn all the calories.
I’m just not sure I can imagine getting up early enough to cook a dinner type meal to start the day.
Having said that, quiche is a non traditional breakfast, but can make a good choice. It can be made the day before and reheated at breakfast.
There are Asian cultures that eat fish stew for breakfast.
It can be anything you like, hopefully very nutritious.
well, you already canceled out every breakfast food (someones a little picky) =P
since you want something out of the ordinary, this is an egyptian breakfast dish called “fool-mudammas.”
2 Cups of cooked fava beans
1 Cup of cooked ***** peas
3 Lemons juiced
3 Garlic cloves
1/2 Cup of olive oil
2 tsp of salt
1 Tomato
1/2 Cup of chopped parsley
Place fava beans and ***** peas in a deep pan, add fresh water to cover the beans and bring to boil for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, crush garlic in a large salad bowl, add 2 tbsp of the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and stir well.
When the sauce is ready, drain the fava beans and the ***** peas and add to the sauce.
With a potato masher, mash the beans slightly.
Give the salad a quick mix and garnish with parsley and diced tomatoes.
Drizzle the rest of the olive oil and serve hot or cold with pita bread.
looks like this:
i can give you more uncommon breakfast foods if you like. i have a good recipe for breakfast trifle and indian idly.
___
wow thats pretty interesting! i grew up eating those foods (and i find ways to make them – not boring)! where are you from?
Crepes filled with fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, bananas etc.)
Quiche
pancakes
Souffles
Omelettes
Waffles
Strawberry stuffed French Toast
Scrambles
Frittatas
Tortilla Espanola
Breakfast pizza
Strata
Blintzes topped with cherrys, berries or apples
Matzah Brie
Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberry sauce
Cinnamon Toast with Lavendar Strawberries
Here are a few sites with more ideas:
Quiche, frittatas, empanadas. All 3 are easy to make in about 10 minutes prep time and they’re really nice when you invite friends over for breakfast. Empanadas are great because you can use anything as a filling and you can bake a whole cookie sheet of them at once.
Sausage, bacon, ham. French toast, eggs of any kind. Breakfast sandwiches like egg Mcmuffin, hash browns, american fries, melon with proscuitto, gravy, biscuits, can’t think of the name but it is ham and egg and hollandaise. Rice. Quiche. bread pudding, And a bunch of casseroles like a frittata. Coddled eggs.
Muffins, specialty breads like pumpkin, rolls, bagels, croissants.
These are good…and can be made the night before….therefore most of the mess is already cleaned up:
