Using fruit or yogurt in smoothies, which is better?

I want to make smoothies using Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added) and either soy milk or rice milk.

My question is, should I also add frozen fruit OR fat-free yogurt? Which of the two would make the smoothie more filling? Healthier? Fewer calories?
I want the smoothie to work as a meal replacement, not just a snack.

Fruit. Anytime you can incorporate fresh fruit into a meal is good. Blueberries, any berries, are the best, as they are high in antioxidants.
You might also stick a spoonful of flaxseed into your smoothie. Try adding almonds too, for the protein.
I use both fruit and yoghurt but no milk!!!
Either way, it wouldn’t be enough to (healthily) replace a meal.
use the fruit, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, its all good, and makes a great smoothie high in what you need to stay healthy.

I would use both. I do.
Fruit is better. It is high in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants and low in calories. You’re getting enough protein from the Instant Breakfast and the soy or rice milk (soy has more protein btw).
The yogurt has protein, but many kinds also have carbs/sugar so be careful. Also, carnation instant breakfast isn’t all that healthy for you. Due to the amount of sugar, it might not keep you full for long. Be careful of the amount of carbs in soy milk as well. If not you’re not lactose intolarant, maybe try regular skim milk.
Maybe try a protein shake/smoothie. I’ve been using herbal life meal replacements and jsut been adding some protein powder. Keeps me full and alert for hours!
Fruit is lower calorie, but yogurt has dairy, so maybe nonfat yogurt for some added protein, as this would be a meal. A combo of both would be more filling though, because the fruit has fiber.
For a meal replacement, go with the yogurt. It may add a very few more calories, but it will give you a good blend of protein and carbohydrates that will keep your blood sugars balanced and keep you from being hungry longer. Plus, it has calcium… and Dannon light & lively is only 60 cal. for a cup.
Of course, fruit always tastes better….
Don’t use yogurt based products. They’ll double the calories instantly of your smoothie.
Also don’t use soy. New studies have shown that there are natural toxins found in soy products that contribute to hormones (mostly in women) being bonked out of wack. Rice milk is okay though..so far.
Add as much ice as possible and put mostly water in with it.
It’ll be delightful.
I’ve been doing something as you suggest, but have been blending all fresh fruit, even cabbage (it’s sweet) and using blended ice and fresh carrot juice to make the ice break up/get unslushed. Works really great with watermelon-blended apples-grapes. I really haven’t even been worrying about calories, I just cut out all soda and fast/junk food..I eat 5-6 lite meals a day and have lost 20 pounds. I eat very little dairy. I’ve occasionally used plain organic yogurt just to give it a different creaminess, but I stick to the fruit because it’s easier for me to get.
